Super busy on weekends so make sure you get a reservation. I got the country fried chicken and the boyfriend got a chicken sandwich. Both were delicious and truly southern comfort. I've never had such delicious collard greens. The chickens were crispy on the outside and super moist on the inside and well seasoned. We also had the she crab soup which is probs the best crab soup I've ever had. Servers were so friendly. Definitely check this place out if you're visiting Charleston!

We went to Poogan's Porch on our first night in Charleston so we could sit outside and enjoy some outstanding food. We got to sit out back under the billowy awnings, which allowed us to fully appreciate the beautiful night. Our server was a delight, helping us choose great drinks and pointing out some fantastic menu items. Drinks: Gin-Gin Mule, Original Sin Cider Appetizer: Pimento Cheese Fritters (THESE WERE SO GOOD), Crab Cakes Dinner: Shrimp & Grits Dessert: Hummingbird Pecan Pie The drinks were so good and we also were insanely surprised by how light and delicious the pimento cheese fritters were. For a fried food, they tasted so light and delicious! And the pimento was amazing! Overall, amazing ambiance, great service, and really high quality food.

My family and I have been trying to eat at Poogan's porch for years but have never been able to go until yesterday. This place lives to it reputation as being one of the best Southern food spots around Charleston. The service was great and the drinks were not watered down as it is in other restaurants we've been to in the area. It has a welcoming environment and the waitress answered all of our questions. I tried the Fried Chicken and it is a huge plate that can honestly be shared with another person. The Mac and Cheese is a must for the appetizer. My wife had the salmon and she was very satisfied. To finish, we had the pecan pie that was also very delicious. We will definitely be coming back in the future!

We went on a Friday night and didn't have reservations so they took as at the bar. The location itself seemed nice, but the bartender looked exhausted, overworked, and under supported. We tried to shoot some small talk and ask her a few questions, but her mood was overpowering and she wasn't in a mood to chat. Her bar back was more light hearted and friendly. We ordered two meals and some appetizers and a whiskey flight. It was all ok, but it felt like the love was missing from the food, however it could have just been the emotion in the room. I had a soup dish and crab appetizer and my husband got the fried chicken. Would maybe return but only with reservations.

Our family had a wonderful dinner meal at this restaurant. I'm missed coming here on my last trip to Charleston and I'm glad we were able to get in this time. The interior of the restaurant has lots of charm and is a very old building so it's quite interesting. While you wait for the table in the main hallway, you can view several celebrities who have eaten here and you can see their pictures on the wall. The food was terrific. The menu has lots of your staple, southern dishes that you will thrive for one coming to the south to dine. The service was on par, and we were tended to frequently. Overall, this was a great restaurant, and I recommend stopping here on your next Charleston trip.

For a cute Southern charm meal, check out Poogan's Porch because the ambiance, service, and food hit all the marks in my book! I came here twice and both times I had a wonderful experience- some dishes I tried were: * Poogan's Famous Bone-in Fried Chicken - Juicy, all-natural chicken. It wasn't greasy and the skin was crispy. My favorite was the Hoppin' John beans and the collard greens which was cooked wonderfully. * BBQ Mahi Mahi - The fish was a little rough texture-wise; however, the taste was wonderfully umami. * Frisse Salad - A slightly heavier salad but its a great complementary dish to any other entree to lighten it up. * Chicken Fried Flounder Sandwich (lunch only) - The fish had wonderful flavor and was perfectly flaky. The sidewinder fries were SO good- I think they add some seasoning to really elevate it. The servers I had both times were very kind and helpful. I'd recommend making a reservation as they can get very busy especially during summertime!

Came on a Wednesday about noon without reservation. 30 minute wait or bar room so we chose the bar table. It was nice to sit and talk with strangers from different places during our meal. Whenever I'm introducing someone to chicken and waffles I take them to a place I think does them well, and Poogan's is on that list now. My dish was tasty and crispy with just a perfect ratio of chicken to waffle. My friend had the chicken fried pork chop, I tried some and that'll be what I have next time I visit, and there will definitely be a next time! Many thanks for the good ole' southern comforting brunch experience.

We had brunch by at Poogans Porch. We didn't have a reservation but were quickly seated on the patio. We ordered the French Toast and the Smash burger. Both were very tasty. I would definitely return and try more menu options!

Order: chicken fried flounder sandwich and meeting street crab Before our entrees were served, we got a complimentary basket of biscuit served with honey butter. Honey butter is the best thing invented (I'm seeing it more now since I've first tried/heard about it from a restaurant called Ida Claire in Jacksonville FL. The biscuits on the other hand could have had a crispy crust but the inside was definitely nice and fluffy. The sandwich came with two filets of flounder served on brioche with a green-tomato and celery salad and a side of sidewinder fries (spiral shaped potato wedges). The sandwich was big with a generous amount of fish; well seasoned. The salad pieces; kind of like a slaw, could have been cut into smaller strips. Also l, the fries could have been hotter temperature wise and more crispy. The meeting street crab was basically a bruschetta but with crab instead of tomatoes. The baguette/bread the crab was served on could have been a softer crispy versus a hard crispy (hope that makes sense). Also, a little salt/pepper and lemon on top would have spruced up the flavors.

You can't go wrong at Poogan's porch. There's normally a wait- we got lucky this trip and sat at the bar- it's small but I recommend these seats if you can snag them. (Theres 4) Historic restaurant, with a ghost story to go along with it. Good was delicious, lots of Southern classics. I had fish sandwich- it was delicious. Chicken and waffles were also delicious and different with fruit compote.
